We’re so pleased to announce that Sue Carrie will be our new colleague and teacher in the Art Department next year, as the Visiting Assistant Professor for 2016-17. We’re especially delighted because Sue Carrie is an alumna of the college! She graduated as a studio art major from Millsaps in 2012, magna cum laude, with honors, and she was also a Ford Fellow while here. She went on to the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA, where she received her MFA in Books Arts and Printmaking in 2015. As she explains on her website, “Her work investigates different forms of damage and deterioration mapping intimate experiences and relationships that leave a permanent mark. Focusing on surface, accumulation, and texture she highlights the futility of acts to conceal or veil the past. She works primarily with papermaking and relief printing, incorporating crochet, knit, and other more tactile processes and materials” (see suecarriedrummond.com). This fall she’ll be teaching beginning-level courses in drawing, painting, and printmaking.
