A junior-senior exhibition, “Cultural Commentary,” is on view at the Wonderlab in Fondren, with works by junior majors Ninette Hickey and Maria Welch and senior Madison Brennan.


Freshman Ventures class exhibition of album covers

Monica Jovanovich-Kelley’s Ventures class organized an impressive exhibition on “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Iconic and Controversial Album Covers from the 1960s to Today” in the Emerging Space gallery, with an opening on Dec. 5.


Art Alumna Amanda Cashman

Amanda Cashman (Studio Art, 2002) received the Millsaps Outstanding Young Alumna Award at the Alumni Awards Ceremony on Oct. 21, 2016. This award is presented to an alum “who graduated in the last 15 years and has exemplified leadership and commitment to the College.” Amanda teaches art at St. Anthony Catholic School in Madison and has won numerous awards, including the Bill Poirier Mississippi Outstanding Art Educator of the Year Award, given at the National Art Education Association Convention in Chicago in 2015. Most recently, she was named the Thad Cochran Distinguished Arts Educator for K-6 Visual Arts by the Mississippi Alliance for Arts Education. Congratulations, Amanda!!

Gracie Gadow!

Congratulations to Gracie for being accepted into the very competitive Arts & Humanities Student Research Symposium on Oct. 21. She presented her paper on “Fra Angelico’s San Marco Frescoes: Didactic Demonstrations for Friars,” written for Italian Renaissance Art last year.
