Congratulations to Art Department Faculty!

Congratulations to professors Sandra Murchison and Sarah Archino!

Sandra Murchison will be awarded the 2011 Humanities Teacher of the Year for Millsaps College at the Mississippi Humanities Council dinner on Feb. 24, after receiving last spring (2011) the Richard A. Smith Award for Excellence in Scholarship or Creative Work.

Sarah Archino will be presented with a juried Honorable Mention Award in Art History at this year’s annual College Art Association conference in Los Angeles. Her application was in support of the expansion of her dissertation, “Rewriting the Narrative of Dada in New York, 1910-1926,” into a manuscript on early 20th-century American modernism.  The award is for students completing their degrees in the 2012 calendar year, and she’ll celebrate this honor at a number of special events during the conference (Feb. 22-25), along with other awardees and keynote speakers.

Phi Beta Kappa Honorable Mention

Congratulations to Sue Carrie Drummond for receiving the Phi Beta Kappa “Honorable Mention” Award for Excellence in Honors Research for her studio art project “Generational Anecdotes”!
