Visiting Artists ~ Spring 2012

Anita Jung: “I Am Not There.” Associate Professor of Printmaking, University of Iowa. February 14 – March 23, 2012. Gallery Talk: February 14, 2012 @ 3:00 p.m. in the Lewis Art Gallery.
This work of art ponders material that re-contextualizes itself through unexpected relationships. The elements in the work are ephemeral, eventually becoming the overlooked, covered over or discarded, belonging to the background of our lives. Yet, they are in many ways what we distinctly remember later; the wallpaper of our grandmother’s kitchen, the plastic slipcovers in our best friend’s house, the color of our bedroom when we were growing up.

Crispin Prebys, graphic designer. Workshop in digital arts. March 21-23, 2012.

Crispin Prebys:  Election year design workshop – March 21 & 22
Wednesday, March 21, 3:00 – 4:00 and Thursday, March 22, 1:00 – 4:00

With 2012 being an election year, the issue of voter participation will be a topic of discussion. Beyond creating artifacts to sell or identify a company or brand, Graphic Design has the power to create awareness and build grassroots enthusiasm.  For this workshop, Mr Prebys will work with students to produce a number of design solutions that work to encourage and promote voting among Millsaps students and their peers in the community.

Crispin’s work can be seen at: http://cprebys.com/

This workshop is a part of the Beginning Digital Arts Course, and we welcome guest attendance.  Please RSVP to morinm@millsaps.edu if you would like to attend.
